Synopsis : Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai... As the name suggests, is the story of dreams, and aspirations. The film follows the desires of a young man, Suraj Shrivastava (Abhishek Bachchan), and his tumultuous journey to achieve them. Suraj represents the youth of today, the average youngster anywhere in this country or in fact, anywhere in the world. It speaks about the burning ambition that engulfs all and the price that generation X is willing to pay to have it all. "All", in the film, is personified by Naved Ali (Jackie Shroff), a media baron, the ideal of any young man today, a true blue rags to riches story, the man who has it all and that too, on his own terms. It is Naved Ali who evokes deep awe and respect within Suraj, whose ambition in life becomes to be like Naved.
Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai... traces this journey of the young Suraj towards his ultimate goal and watches the dreams and desires of this boy change along the way. They change every time he achieves one and finds that it is not enough until the time that he decides that, "All I want is everything." In his pursuit of every thing, he finds love in Pooja (Rani Mukharjee), understanding in Lara (Sushmita Sen), and a driving force in Naved Ali. But somewhere along the way, he decides that everything is not truly what he wants, it is in fact the little things that he once had, that gave him the happiness that he now desperately seeks. So he sets out to make things right once again. Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai... is about illusions fulfilled but dreams shattered. The film tells us that we can have every thing, but at a price |
