Synopsis :
Anari is a story of true and innocent love. Rajnandini(Karishma Kapoor) is the beloved sister of three brothers Bhairaja(Suresh Oberoi), Manjleraja and Choteraja(Gulshan Grover), who are big landowners and the terror of their village. As astrologers prediction during childhood that Nandini would get married against her brothers wishes makes her brothers confine Nandini to the place. Any outside male who even sets eye on her is punished.

Rama(Venkatesh), considered to be a harmless idiot, is allowed into the place to entertain with his singing. Then, seeing his physical prowess, Bhairaja hires him as Nandinis bodygaurd.

One day, Rama saves Nandinis life. Nandini falls in love with him and makes the unsuspecting Rama to tie the mangalsutra on her, which is a sign of wedlock between a man and a woman. When her brothers start searching for a husband for her, Nandini is forced to declare that she has already taken Rama as her husband.

Nandinis furious brothers are after Ramas blood. Not finding him, they torture his mother Savitri(Rakhee), but Rama comes to her rescue. Nandini, thinking that she has lost her beloved tries to take her own life.

Nandinis brothers realize that only Rama can save her, so they repent of their sins and beg Rama to come to her aid.
