Synopsis :
Pyar To Hona hi Tha is the story of Sanjana (Kajol) who lives in Paris and is engaged to Rahul (Bijay Anand). On a business trip to India, Rahul meets another girl and breaks his engagement with Sanjana. Sanjana decides to go to India to win Rahul back. On the plane she meets Shekhar (Ajay Devgan), a thief who is carrying a stolen diamond necklace.

Shekhar uses Sanjana to smuggle the necklace past customs but in the process her luggage is stolen. Shekhar helps her find the luggage while she is looking for Rahul. This brings the two close and they become good friends.
