Synopsis :
"Never do anything in the dark, which cannot be faced in the daylight", an advice often repeated but seldom heeded. Yet this is a human failing which claims many innocent lives, bringing in its trail untold mystery and suffering. Such was the story of Jamuna (Sulochana) and Ramprakash Shukla (Balraj Sahani) who kept their marriage a close secret, a ceremony veild by the covers of darkness. But when daylight came it was too late, as their relationship has borne a child Ravi (Dhamendra), but out of wedlock. Years pass and into Ravi's life walks in kanchan (Asha Parekh). During Ravi and Kanchan's engagement ceremony, a member of Kachan's family recognizes Ravi's mother who had dissappeared from a town in Punjab 25 years ago. Is it the same Jamuna, an unmarried women about to give birth to an illegimate child? Could this illegimate child be r\Ravi, and who is the father? When confronted with these questions Jamuna fails to offer any explanation. When Ravi himself too fails to get proper explanation from his mother, Kanchan's parents broke off the marriage. Unable to face the stigma Ravi blindly leaves home in despair.
