Synopsis : Dil Vil Pyar
Vyar has four love stories that are interwoven together in an
interesting way. To boot are the evergreen songs of yesteryears, set
to tune by none other than the legendary music director late R.D.
Burman.
The first story revolves around Krish (R. Madhavan)
and Raksha (Namrata Shirodkar), two aspiring singers who want to
make it big in the showbiz industry. The two are happily married and
want to stay together on their course to the world of razzmatazz.
Their relationship, however, is poisoned by ego, pride and
insecurity after Raksha meets success ahead of Krish. Their marital
bliss is broken and the once-happily-married couple is forced to
part ways.
The second love story is centered on a widower
Dev (Sanjay Suri) who has led an aloof life ever since his wife
Payal (Dipannita Sharma) died soon after their
honeymoon.
Along with his sister Rachna (Bhavna Pani), Dev
moves from Pune to Mumbai where he meets Gauri (Sonali Kulkarni),
who lives with her mentally retarded brother Gaurav (Rakesh
Bapat).
Dev and Gauri fall for each other but keep their
distance, as the shadow of Gaurav's illness looms large over their
foundling relationship. On the other hand, there sprouts the third
love story between Dev’s sister Rachna and Gauri’s brother Gaurav.
The fourth love story is the story of a multi-millionaire
Hrithik (Jimmy Shergill) and a simple girl Jojo (Hrishitaa Bhatt).
Although both their families want them married Jojo doesn’t want to
wed Hrithik until he has earned his name independent of his parent’s
credentials.
Director Anant Mahadevan's intricately weaves
the three stories and draws them to the singular climax.
The
film, although an experimental attempt, fails to impress due to a
strong dose of mush. Besides, the performances by the film’s cast
(barring Namrata) are plain mediocre. Namrata, who has had the
experience of working with talented directors in Bollywood, shows
her mettle and proves that she is an actress worth her salt.
In a nutshell, Dil Vil Pyar Vyar is an average film
with four different love stories. And at least one of them is likely
to pull strings at heart. |
